Interesting Annapolis Links

One of the reasons Erika and I chose Annapolis for our wedding was to introduce our family and friends who may not be familiar with it to the city and surrounding area.  This is by no means an exhaustive list but poke around and feel free to add your own through the comments below!

I was stationed at the Academy for two years as a Freshman-Sophmore Navigation Instructor and Offshore Sailing Safety Officer.  This is the ‘must-see’ attraction in Annapolis!

Annapolis City Homepage

Annapolis is the capital city of Maryland and it plays host to an amazing amount of conferences, maritime events, races and just about anything else. Their homepage is a great place to look for stuff to do in town.

I had several great experiences at CBMM, the Naval Academy Sailing Squadron was hosted at their seawall twice.  The museum is wonderful, especially the full lighthouse which is similar in style to Thomas Point Lighthouse.  The museum is in St. Michaels, MD which is on the Eastern Shore. It is definitly a bit of a hike from Annapolis (about 1.5 hrs) but if you have the extra time (Sunday perhaps?) check it out!

Tour Annapolis

I never did this but I saw the tour groups going around. As much as I’d like to give personal guided tours to all of our guests I don’t think that will happen this time around. If you like guides dressed in period costumes while riding on segweys showing you around town this is the place.

The only way to get the full Annapolis experience is to get out on the water… and there isn’t a much more stylish way than on Annapolis’s twin schooners, Woodwind and Woodwind II.  Some of you may recognize it as the sailboat from the hilarious movie Wedding Crashers. Again this is something I never got around to doing in town but it is a great way to see Annapolis from the water!

Ok, that should be enough to make you dangerous… again, if you have some other good ideas and want to share drop a comment down below!
