New Home

After over a month, 50+ homes, 3 offers, 2 ratified contracts and one very bizarre voiding of a contract Erika and I are nearing settlement on a 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath, 1100 sq ft Condo-Op at Capitol Hill Tower in SE Washington, DC. If you are interested, we are purchasing a ‘B4 Floorplan‘.

We are scheduled to settle next Wednesday, 21 May and plan on moving over the next 2 or so weeks. Volunteer movers are in high demand!

The new address will be:

1000 New Jersey Ave, Se, #313
Washington, DC 20003 (map)

For those familiar with the area you may realize that this puts me exactly .5 (POINT FIVE) miles from the front gate of the Washington Navy Yard, which is where I work. Visitors will also be pleased to note that unlike our current residence in NW we are literally 1 block from the metro, in this case the Green Line Navy Yard/Ballpark Metro Station. For those coming by car we are very close to I-395/295 in the city for easy access in and out. Parking is plentiful on the street and we even have the benefit of the newer parking receipt machines (parking on game days is not so good…).

So besides the disgusting convenience for me why would Erika and I make such an effort to stay in the city?!? (we are getting this question alot!) Southeast DC is in the midst of an exciting renovation from top to bottom. The new National’s Ballpark that was built in an amazing 2 years really gives you a window into what this area could be in a couple of years. If you are interested in seeing just how much the area has changed, and what some of the future plans are check out THIS website. A local resident has done an impressive job of cataloging in photo’s and text the changes.

I also want to give a special thanks to our friend and real estate agent Chris Upham who has really gone above and beyond for us throughout this process. Check him out on the web!
