Anticipointment – the combination of anticipation and disappointment… now synonymous in my mind with the yearly release of EA Sports MADDEN football game.
I thought the junior officers on COLE had coined this term on deployment back in our ‘03-’04 Med deployment but apparantly it has been used elsewhere (see link).  Dave and I in particular were experts at identifying moments filled with anticipointment.
Well here I am again with that sinking feeling.  I’ve been missing MADDEN football as my main video game distraction since my Xbox 360 was stolen in the move but decided not to replace it until the new ‘09 version came out (14 Aug).  Now in the past 2 years my MADDEN anticipointment has been squarely pointed at EA sports and the execution of the game.  This year I can’t really blame them, I can only blame myself…

I thought I would be happy with MADDEN on PS2, the older generation of game system and I was very wrong. As far as I can tell the PS2 is way slower and the graphics are poorer than the original Xbox and all around it is an unsatisfying experience.

Now I just have to figure out for myself is it really the poor graphics and speed of the game experience or am I finally over the MADDEN franchise?  hmmmm….
