Saturday night at the ballpark

June 29th, 2008 · 2 Comments

$5 tickets (2)

$20 parking (at our own building)*

$30 concessions

Monsoon in the bottom of the 6th Inning avoided by a timely exit and a $6 bike-rickshaw ride directly to the Marriot bar(same building as our place) to enjoy scotch while laughing at wet people…

PRICELESS!!!

The escape from the rain delay actually turned a very poor game (from the Nat’s perspective) into a fun time.  I guess we got spoiled by Friday nights 4-2 victory against the O’s which Erika and I also went to because despite the delay the game did finish 9-1 O’s.  The Nat’s also lost another ’star’, in centerfielder Lastings Milledge just before the rain came when he got his foot stuck under the centerfield pads and strained something.  So depressing all around from a baseball standpoint.  The bike-rickshaw ride was great though, there aren’t a ton of them operating in SE yet but w/ parking so far and scattered I’d be surprised if there aren’t more coming.  If you haven’t seen them its a bike w/ a 2-3 seat bench behind it, usually trike style and its a fun way to travel short distances.

And now a couple pictures from the better (Friday) of our two baseball experiences this weekend…

*More about the $20 parking, be warned… the street ‘Pay-to-Park’ kiosks around Nat’s park cost $20 for the 7pm-10pm period encompassing the game and there is NO mention of the extra cost during special events on the kiosk.  In fact the instructions state that no parking tickets are issued 30 min prior or post a Nat’s game.  Not being  the trusting sort I decided to try anyway – and so I got the 3hr $20 boobie prize.

One last picture to share, a wonderful night sky color from last week looking out of our balcony:

Why were you paying for parking at your own place? Don’t you have a garage for that?

Erika was in the garage… only one spot remember!?! I also have to finish my full DC registration (no temp tags) before I can get my Navy Yard parking pass…
